goodbye June....

I had a great day! woke up and hit snooze quite a few times, some computer time, then outside to pull up weeds from a bed in the front that really needed it. I've been wanting to get everything nice and cleaned up out front so it looks nice for July 4 when I have the red white and blue up and while Im out of town etc... got all that done and then back inside for breakfast and watching some Hoda and kathy while folding clothes, straightening up, and grading a few essays.. . by 1230 I was off to swim laps, off to the mall and a quick Chicken Fil A sandwich for lunch
well I saw MOONRISE KINGDOM and LOVED IT! it's completely another Wes Anderson Masterpiece... It's not easy to make a great film with such a collaboration of great actors, but this one fell right into place. although I have to say, I see these great innocent romantic themed movies and as much as I love love them I ask myself sometimes why do I see such makes me want for more in my own life, or it reminds me of the puppy love I had for an ex gf in the past...the movie is set in '65, and I love to get all nostalgic for easier times without all the instant info access and easy porn access. I mean I know there was porn but not as easily accessed, great movie, would love to hear comments about it... I also really like the soundtrack, so magical at times, and I loved the whole reading books and references to poetry and the dark sad story lonely personalities of the characters.. just absolutely wonderful.... so there I was sitting alone in the coolness of a dark movie theater with over 100 degree weather outside on a hot hazy summer afternoon watching a movie by my favorite movie director -- next to Woody Allen and paired with Whit Stillman (I must find a way to see his latest Damsels in Distress. Is the reader who shared my Stillman interest still out there, email me) And I tried to watch and take in every detail of every set and character and screen shot and camera angle and line etc... ha fun fun, what a summer, I thoroughly enjoyed being off today. I bought a button up shirt at the gap, cotton white with navy pinstripes.
went home, went to gym for some cardio, then met my friend for dinner, next out to the outlet mall in okc!
i bought a nice striped polo at the ralph lauren outlet store, it's that thin comfy jersy type with a faded sort of red with smaller navy and light blue stripes with a thinner white stripe going through... guess I should have taken a pic, anyway I thought it'd be nice to have on hand for next week... also bought some boy baby clothes for my nephew's wife who is pregnent, and then some pretty cool pajama pants for a congrats-on-the-new-job gift for Austin buddy...
dinner was great and I got some good counsel from my vet friend about waiting on any overseas job until there is confirmation of a contract teaching in Norman...which is pretty much what I'd plan on doing.. I'm still excited for that job to come through though with the possibilities of travel in the future to help set up language schools in middle east countries via future govt contracts...anyway.
since I started on the subject of shopping... online today I found these things online that really caught my eye from Norse Projects..
the long sleeve shirt above has all the right colors I love to wear, blood red, light blue, navy, grey, orange... must have this shirt for next fall! HA the shirt below I also really like the plaid and it's a good quality made shirt thread dyed etc... love a good blue/ligh blue plaid. :)

rough and ready...

another week of summer

just got back from a road trip this evening... after class yesterday I drove way out west to Mangum OK and helped my sister pack up stuff last night, stayed overnight and then packed more this morning. basically just box up stuff and take stuff out of closets and cabinets and get boxed up and labelled. we took a break to watch anne curry say goodbye on today.  I felt sorry for her sticking it out so long on that show and all she gets is a little goodbye, after Katie Couric's huge sendoff, and then LOVE they poured all over Meredith Viera when she left... and Ann C just gets a little goodbye today is my last day segment?!?!? wth?  anyway, lots of fun all day, taking breaks now and then to watch something on HGTV ( sister has direct tv and I don't so lots of channels for me I don't usually get to see. ha) Man nothing like driving back to OKC in over 100 degree weather. yikes! and it's still just June... I am really looking forward to getting out here though next week. JULY 4th and all next week I'll be in big AUSTIN TX! woohoo. ha can't wait, I'm going to stay w/ my bud H down there and I'm bringing S's bike down there with me so we can ride around, if you see a guy on a beautiful classic  aqua green Bianchi bike with red handle bars, could be me. :)
we plan on watching the fireworks downtown from the Long Center tent.  Also hopefully I'll get some chill time while bud H is at work and I can run around and shop a bit, been forever, you know I always have to hit STAG Austin on Congress and also the Service Menswear store...
I have tons to do between now and getting away to Austin, tomorrow I plan on seeing the movie "Moonrise Kingdom" then dinner with a girl I went to HS with, the veterinarian I've mentioned before. Saturday I have movie plans to see Brave with S buddy here in okc. most of the weekend in between all that other stuff I have about 18 informative essays to grade...will return those to class Monday and then a dentist apnt that afternoon. yikes! I'm going to try and drive down Monday night to Dallas and see Randy hopefully, staying w/ a friend in Dallas and then drive down to Austin Tuesday morning...
Anyone getting to the lake for the 4th???? I wish I was, man I love being on the lake in summertime. but I'll just have to settle for Barton Springs in Austin this year.. ha
NEWS ON THE JOB FRONT!  We have a GO for the deal overseas teaching in Kabbuull . My contact wants me to go over there for a few months and teach and train teachers and get the school set up.  He wants me to help recruit 5-10 teachers to sign a year contract making 6 figures living there on a base and teaching English. whoah!  thing is, I already have a job starting in August (going back to my public school job). I told him I can't quit that job until I know the contract for the school in Norman is a complete go ahead! then I'm ready to work for him and travel anywhere anytime as long as I always have the teaching job in Norman to come back to. that's where I'm standing now anyway. I dunno I have to call him tomorrow and talk about it more etc...   I have posted twice on my social network status about looking for English teachers to go overseas to affghhannnistan for a year and no ones' really shown interest yet. go figure, ha ha. I must have been crazy to do it myself and no way would I go back for a full year, a few months is one thing, but never again a year. :)
oh and the other dilemma is I bought two 3 day passes to Austin City Limits music festival coming up in October so how the heck am I going to time being in Austin for that??? ha ha. this is going to prove to be an interesting fall. hope all are enjoying the summer, up to 106 here today. ughhhhh.....

jumper and sweatshirts

None of these are too exciting considering it's summer, but what can I say. I'm a guy with long arms and long neck so I like a good crew neck and long sleeved shirt, and definitely anything with horizontal stripes since I grew up such a bean pole I've always gone for horizontal stripes.... So yeah the last two are probably more spring colors or summer if you live where it's cool at night
(our night lows here are like 70's or up!) , but I'd wear these to teach in. One thing I like about my job is I don't have to wear a shirt and tie all the time, and doubt I'll have to if I get the ESL govt job... so these are some shirts that caught my eye at The first one I'd wear with blue or grey jeans, black or khaki pants. the last two I could easily trade off between jeans, or putty khakis. I really like the second one because the tile print reminds of
traveling to the middle east and then the last one I just like 'cause it's different and the blue would hopefully set off the blue in my blue mainly grey eyes. ha
the pic below is a pair of plaid pants I got off of on sale. nothing more comfortable than linen pants in the summer and these size 32 fit perfectly, i wore 'em to church this morning with a navy polo and some white riviera slipon shoes. will repeat the same for class tomorrow. ha. hope everyone's having a good Sunday. tell me if you ever wear plaid pants... I imagine myself someday doing the whole professor look with lots of plaid pants, and also fun plaid ties etc etc.. very English majory looking. :) the pool party today was pretty interesting, lots of fun seeing my friend B's house, and A and gf were there to hang and talk to, I met an esl HS English teacher so we talked a lot, then there were about 4 other girls there and 2 gay male couples, and a single skinny guy in a speedo (rolling eyes) ha... and one of the gay couples wore a metallic gold suit w/ the other in a metallic gold suit. ...alas it can get pretty stereotypically gay really quick around okc sometimes, but it's all good, I had a lot of fun overall. I'll have to blog sometime about whether the more freely gay younger generation growing up now will feel any less inclined to be flamboyantly gay at such parties, or is it even an age thing or an OKC thing..cheers for checking out the blog.

weekly progress....
