eames things

I came across these two Eames related things online.   The first is an Eames leg splint inspired concept for an artificial limb.  The model sure is cute, dark hair and glasses and thick legs. hmmm.   the next is a tray "sea things" designed by Ray Eames. and of course I love all things fish so I'm posting a pic.  The site about the limb design is here at

join the bandwagon...

weekend is here again! heck yeah, I'm ready. plan to get out in the yard this weekend and of course get all the grading of papers done. this week of school drove me almost crazy with the schedule. we have the same class all day from 735-1107. and then switch to another class the rest of the day after lunch 1137-225... so it takes a lot of planning and energy to keep the kids going that long.
today I showed a movie "Hercules Unchained" very old movie that I found on dvd for a dollar somewhere long ago. the kids watched most of it, some attempted sleep. The old movie was nice though al lthese guys running around shirtless and Hercules was some big muscle guy. ha.. We are currently studying mythology and greece so the movie fit our lesson plans, although the school discourages us from just showing movies while we are on this schedule..
What made today extra crazy was I had a class all morning and then all afternoon.
next week most of my days are broken up with either a planning period before or after lunch without kids, or I'll be administering a test, yee haw.
We read this story this week about narcissus and staring at himself in a pool and falling in love with's pretty interesting story when you consider no one ever asks so is he gay or what? ha I mean since he's a man and looking at a man in the reflection etc.. anyway.
I had teh best chest and arm workout yesterday, I miss that feeling of getting all pumped up and after the workout you just feel amazing. I....! ( you'll notice I said chest and arm day because I missed a few days this week and had to combine things!!! ugh).
ahh well if I didn't want the extra cash I wouldn't have taken the extra job teaching an online class. so all good, I can make time for the extra work.
no big plans otherwise this weekend, just getting out, seeing some friends in town, cleaning up the place as usual, and otherwise save money for any ventures coming this summer! just 5.5 weeks left to SUMMER-- ( we are actually going to school right up to the 31st of MAY!!! ugh i hate it!!!) but I will come up with something to get away and do memorial weekend ready~!

well I'm back to grading papers. this time my online class.. should be able to wrap 'em all up by next weekend though. my friend Amy who I have dinner with every now and then, she emailed and wants to go to dinner Friday and go shop around for laptops. she is a VERY careful shopper and not at all like me, I just got online, found the newer version of the Satelite Toshiba I had before and got one. ha
I'll also be moving some furniture after work either Wed or Thurs so the extra $$ will be nice plus get to see my friend A. ( I haven't found yet if she and her gf were successful in their last getting pregnant attempt at the doctors. SHe and I might try some different churches in the city sometime but next weekend I'll be going to her congregationalist church.
forget if I mentioned this but I've been watching NETFLIX online a lot lately, and last weekend I started watching "Pasta" a Korean tv show. I really like it, and I'm up to episode 8 tonight. You have to watch and read the subtitles but otherwise it's really interesting. I had to get over the whole " demanding arrogant chef" overdone story line... but overall it really drew me in, it's just SO DIFFERENT how everyone seems to relate to each other. My first gross over-generalization of Koreans based solely on this tv show would be absurdly stated as such: there are all these different levels of smartness and you're allowed to teach or command or insult anyone "dumber" than you in status. ha
I'm also reading this book "Just Kids" by Patty Smyth and it's also really interesting. all about how she met Robert Mapplethorpe in NYC in the late 60's and early 70's and how they fall in love, he comes out as gay, and they still are in love and living together and developing their art...etc
hope everyone got a good start off to the week. I had my first hour class for 1st-4th hours today. part of a testing schedule that was fun trying to do a week's worth of lessons and keep everyone interested. I ended it with the last hour and a half of them getting onto laptops and researching stuff and then just letting them relax a bit before the bell.
anyone listening to Ladytron? I got a Pandora station where I set it with Ladytron and added Freelance Whales to it.. anyway. cheers for checking out the blog.
