Answers to Your Questions For a Better Understanding of Sexual Orientation & Homosexuality

email from a friend today quoting the American Phychological Association's stance on homosexuality found on their website here...

and the quote:
"There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors. Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles...."
the quote left off the final sentence, " most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation."

ahhh. what a mystery....

I found this quote from the site interesting:
"Sexual orientation is commonly discussed as if it were solely a characteristic of an individual, like biological sex, gender identity, or age. This perspective is incomplete because sexual orientation is defined in terms of relationships with others. People express their sexual orientation through behaviors with others, including such simple actions as holding hands or kissing. Thus, sexual orientation is closely tied to the intimate personal relationships that meet deeply felt needs for love, attachment, and intimacy. In addition to sexual behaviors, these bonds include nonsexual physical affection between partners, shared goals and values, mutual support, and ongoing commitment. Therefore, sexual orientation is not merely a personal characteristic within an individual. Rather, one’s sexual orientation defines the group of people in which one is likely to find the satisfying and fulfilling romantic relationships that are an essential component of personal identity for many people."

It's interesting to think of it including the whole relationship overall, some guys consider it just about the sex. Especially when I consider closet guys who want the sex part only and miss out on the relationship, which could be considered not truly homosexual if they are in it for the sex only. However my definition has always been more if you are having sex with the same sex, what they say is an incomplete definition of homosexuality, which is why the above quote interests me since it includes the whole relationship thing.... blah. whatever.

kate perry on idol or anything for that matter

I'm sick of having her shoved down my throat. damn music company trying to make as much money as they can riding off of hey one hit wonder I kissed a girl song.... all right all right, it was so groundbreaking taboo for a girl to have hit song about kissing another girl. ok ok we get many million times has I heard it before AGAIN performed at the Grammy's after it'd been out forever, and now tonight on IDOL she looks terrible and the song forgettable, as they'd say on IDOL. anyway I'm just ranting. ha of course I realize the show is all about marketing in the first place what with coke and ford and itunes and they various past idol performers on there and all that. but still. enough kate perry already. blah

I was driving home from the movies last night and coming down my street I noticed someone had their car out on the street on blocks. Immediately I thought, what a redneck, they got an ordinance against that around here and I don't want my street looking like some junkyard....then I remembered my 88 ranger in the backyard on blocks from when I left overseas last year...oops that shut myself up.

came up behind some guy in a black lexus yesterday and on the back there was an Oakley sticker on the window. I was thinking, and no offense to anyone with an Oakley sticker on the back window, but what's the deal with showing everybody how important your brand of sunglasses are.....unless does Oakley make stereo equipment or something.. anyway typical str8 boy type around here. OH yeah and his liscense plate read "LKEBUM" which means he's a lake bum, but if any british guy read that he'd probably think likes bum. ha

Does anyone else cringe when they have stupid animal humor in movies, for example the sequal to night at the museum had a preview showing at the movies last night, and they have the shtick of the monkey hitting ben stiller in the face again. I never laugh at that sort of stuff. same with some dog character joke in a movie. anyway. about STAR TREK, AWESOME!!!!!

go see it now! the young Chekov character is so cute, with his little accent and all ahhhhhh. the whole movie is great in the intro to the characters we already know etc...
