Holiday season is on..........

I've had some pretty uneventful weekends going this month.. just grading papers mostly.  Sunday before last and then this last Saturday I sent at my parents' house since my mom's brother was in town from Washington state.  We never grew up with any of my mother's family around so I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen this uncle.  When my mom moved to OK to go to college from Long Island, the rest of the family all moved out to CA and then her parents getting divorced years later...  so anyway.. we pretty much just grew up with all my dad's family around here in OK and then a few visits from my grandma on that side and her husband, and then I think I was in high school before I actually met her dad who she'd made contact with and then he and a wife came to OK to visit blah blah...
I swam M,T,W of last week, and then M and Tues of this week. but on cold mornings I've thinking nah, I'm good, not feeling like going out into the cold truck and driving over to the Y. ha.. but I have made good use of the time change and getting to bed an hour earlier and waking up an hour earlier. woot! If I keep it up, it should keep a little bit prepared for my trip over winter break.
Yes, I've still been planning a trip.  I have Christmas concerts planned, a few afternoon teas, shops to shop, and a few sites to see.  I'm planning only a few change of clothes to bring with me and then shop for some winter clothes while on my trip.  I am deciding which coat to bring and which 2 pairs of shoes. ha  lots of winter weather and lots of walking all around the city.  As I've been making little lists of options to stop and see, my next step will be to map it all out to see which things are near others on the same side of the city and then plan which days to go.  can't wait! I"m also choosing what things I want to buy and then get the VAT tax refunded to save money. OR things I can try on and NOT buy and get cheaper ordering online when I get back home.  Of course I'm Christmas shopping also and plan to see several Christmas markets.  my tickets include checking luggage on the flight home, so I'll bring a sort of carry on bag packed into my other carry on bag on the way there, and then check the larger on on the plane on the way back.
I'm very much looking forward to the end of the school year what with this trip planned .  I'm really trying to dot my i's and cross all the t's as the semester wraps up. This means warning students to get all things turned in NOW and by the end of the WEEK not anything.  SO usually I wouldn't do it, but I've been emailing students saying how they should be aware of this or that zero and don't ask me the last week of classes to make something up or turn something in etc...  My goal is to have grades turned in as soon as the last day of classes is over.... off to the airport and board a plane. whew!
THis weekend I'm emptying everything out of the guest bedroom. it's become a sort of storage room where I couldnt' even walk into . all floor space filled up!  so I'm taking everything out and will clean it, and only put back things I really need out.  hopefully give some away, throw some away, and just get the rest organized.  My school has a clothes bank for students, so I plan to bring all my slim fit 32 waist pants up there that are way too tight and don't fit anymore ( what iwth gaining wait and doing crossfit, mind you I'm still a 32 waist!! :P).  also some shirts that I got at the outlet mall at some poine, wore to work maybe once, and now I"m like--- I'm never going to wear that again. get rid of it. make room for Norse Projects!! ha ha...
going to be cold this weekend so I'll be glad to keep inside and doing projects. my buddy S is leaving to his folks all week for the holiday next weekend.  one new thing is without any yard work on Saturdays, I'm getting up there for a 9 am class, so now 6 days a week! yes! ha
