Ranger blues...........

I've had a great week back to work, Monday I was a bit of a zombie and not at 100% but Tuesday went great, completely busy day back to teaching all my classes, and the course meeting from 3-5pm. no gym time, but I did stop by the grocery store on the way home from work, getting there about 5:30....when I came back out to the parking lot to leave, my truck wouldn't start! UGH.. I rocked it back and forth a bit thinking maybe something had jammed becuase I couldnt' get it out of park when I had the key in. the key was turning but everything was dead. unless I jiggled it a bit, then I got the dash ligths on but still when turning the key I jsut got a click click click. the battery seemed like it had a full charge so I'm not sure what was going on. I took out my jumper cable and looked around the engine thinking that I'd just ask someone to help me with a jump, well no one every came out to the surrounding cars and since my horn was going and the radio and air were coming on fine, I thought it must be something besides that, I went ahead and called a tow truck and had it taken to a shop a few blocks from my home.  The tow guy couldn't get it into neutral with the key in so he did something manually under the truck, then pulled up onto his flatbed. $75 and I rode back with him, and he dropped me off at home a few blocks away. (my insurance will pay me back for the $75).
The good thing about all this is that I was out of school all day Wednesday. (it was supposed to sleet and snow all morning, but instead it did nothing until about 3pm...) so the garage called me around 9"30 and said it they replaced the battery, $121, total charge $179 including service fees....
I walked over and picked it up. I had a conversation about how I wasn't sure if it was really the battery since everything seemed charged and this had never happened before yadda yadda, and they said it might have been a bad battery plus the car was a 2011 so 4 years old battery blah blah....
It started up great and I came home. It started up great today before work (because of all the snow, school was cancelled until 1pm so I went in for my 1:30 class). the truck started and drove fine on the way to the gym at 3:30. it started fine and brought me home after the gym at 5pm. BUT!!!!!....
When I arrived home and pulled into my carport, I put the truck into park, and funny thing it felt like it slipped a little too easily over to park, and in fact it was stuck there, it wouldnt' move out of park. And when I took my foot off the break, the truck was still in drive! I gave a little gas, moved forward, stopped, tried the gear again. still stuck in park... finally I just turned off the key.  AND GUESS WHAT, same as at the store, the key turned but nothing would start, car wouldn't start at all, I'm figuring since the truck was stuck in drive, it won't start when it's in drive. SUCKS!!! so i called the garage around 5:30 before they were closing and he said to call in the morning and he'd ask the mechanics when they got back to work.  I explained that I need some help and hoped either one could come over and look or let me know if I should make plans to tow it again !!!! or whatever... so here I am at home tonight. still smiling and glad to be home and employed and have my super truck, but I"m not feeling super about it until it runs again.
At least I don't have any classes on Friday. I do have office hours from 9 - 3pm, but if I have to miss them, I can call the school and ask them to post a note. I'm going to remain hopeful that between now and Monday I'll be able to get it back in order.  My dad already researched online for 2011 rangers and found one possibility of it being a steering shaft issue, shift tube or loose screws int he bracket? I hope that's it and fisable...who knows. but I"m looking forward to seeing WHAT THE HECK!
In other news, I swam laps today and worked out chest. so good to get back to the gym! one nice thing was this college student who I've seen on my campus who also lifeguards and hes a little trendy with shaved sides of his head and red wing boots and jeans rolled up. anyway today he had on a sort of thin flimsy patterned speedo. he used to be on a highschool swim team, and it's unclear if he swims laps now just to stay in shape or what, but he likes wearing that speedo and his swimmer cap. no complaints.I've been trying to get into bed by 8:30 or 9pm this week and up around5 or 5:30 in prep for next week's daylight savings time. Man, the best thing about my trip last weekend is I was so busy looking forward to it, and now it's only a week and a half until spring break! you prob already know how much I love this time of year, just one big countdown to Spring and summer and getting my back outside into my yard again every day. cheers for checking out the blog.

vacation pics! :P

I took a photo of the shower nozzle in case you hadn't seen one. the motor is in the nozzle, so the water pressure makes it turn and causes it to turn on and heat up the water. if you turn it on too much the water goes too fast and it's not warm enough, if you go too slow it will stop turning, so you learn to get it just right so that it's working and heating up but not too fast that it's too cold. When I first saw the Mcdonald's place I thought it was a ripoff place called "Imposters" but then my friend explained it said postres, so it was really Mcdonald's desserts. ha ! the classroom picture shows my old classroom.
