military style....

morning yawn................

One strange thing about my weekends now and then is the fact I can't sleep in.  I'll wake up and look at the alarm clock I turned off the night before and it will say 6:08 or some time juust before 6:21 am, which is what I usually have it set for.  I don't even get up at that time usually.. in fact I don't know why a lot of people do this but it's  not even set to the right time, I keep my the alarm clock by my bed set 20 minutes fast, and I also keep the wall clock in the kitchen set 20 minutes ahead, which I can see from the table where I keep my laptop sitting while I watch tv or get work done.  I guess at some point I developed the theory that if I jar my mind into thinking I need to hurry when I glance at the clock and think time is getting away, that it would prevent me from running late getting places. As it is, I still find myself leaving places so as to arrive just on time.  I've considered it many times and wondered why I have some sort of fear of getting places too early and suddenly having nothing to do, is it a fear of losing the freedom and control of what I do while at home, an attention deficit thing of not being entertained while waiting, thinking that I could be doing something else instead of time lost waiting...? probably none of that, but one thing is for sure I'm much better getting places on time/before time than I was in college getting places sort of casually socially late.  Of course when I look at the clock I'l just subtract 20 minutes in my mind, and a lot of time I just sweep the mouse on my laptop down to the corner so that the real time appears anyway.
So yeah I'm up early this morning on a Saturday I thought I might sleep in a little. but that's okay since I wanted to leave the house at 730 to drive down to Dallas. I have a little pile of clothes ready in the living room. some work pants and shoes and simple long sleeve shirt to run around and shop in with Randy and Keeton, we're going to shop plants and go back to their place for some landscaping projects. unless it rains all day of course.  I prepared some comfy Sanuk shoes to drive down in, and an old pair of blue converse to work around in. some grey jeans to drive back in tomorrow, and the thing I'm most excited about are some footie socks I ordered in the mail from uniqlo that I opened last night and will wear new today a brown pair and a sort of heather blue pair with green and purple stripes.  ahhhh accesories, the little extra mathching accenting parts of an an outfit..... :P
I went out with S and J last night for dinner.  S and his bf were going to come over this morning to empty out my freezer packed full of all of S's food and frozen beef that his parents always sends him when they have a cow slaughtered. since I'm leaving early today, I told him I'd just bring it all over before dinner. we then met J at belle isle brewery and sat in a booth as usuall and chit chatted all through dinner. usually we catch up on whats going on at our jobs, and S's current relationship or all of our past trysts with guys in town. ha I'm sure this probably sounds pretty normal.
Let's get this spring break started!!! cheers all.

brief encounter....

free falling in to spring break....

here is a link to movie called Freier Fall.I watched it last weekend and the movie really stuck with me for a few days.  I couldnt' figure out how i felt about it, I guess it was the ending and I wasn't sure how I wanted it to end, was the happy ending him coming out or staying with his wife or the guy or? I was undecided like the guy in the film, but he does decided at some point.
I really liked the way the two guys were drawn together and the turmoil it all brings up. the sex and nudity parts are all tastefully done as well. Anyone seen this? I'd be interested to hear any thoughts.
otherwise, I'm geared up for spring break.  I don't know if you remember the two guys I had in class last semester that were buds and woudl sit and giggle at stuff I'd say in class? well one of the guys I have again this semester and he comes by my office now and then. he came by last Friday to get help on his paper, and then he came by again this week Mon and Wed just to chit chat for about 20 minutes. He's a great kid and I like joking around and making him laugh.  other kids have come by as well for help with their papers or to turn stuff in late. THings continue to go well this semester, although I had all 5 classes turning in papers this week. I finsiehd grading 2 of them before spring break, and will continue with the rest with all my time off during break.
plans! I plan to drive down to Dallas Saturday morning and see my bud Randy and his husband. they live west of Dallas and are doing a big yard project.  I had plans to go shop at NorthHaven nursery and maybe some others... and they'd like to go with me, so we'll go run around and then get back and do some digging, unless there is rain I suppose.
I got Moonrise Kingdom in the mail from Netfilx, so I'll prolly take that down with me in case there's time for a movie.  Also i plan to bring ingredients with me to make them some orange choco chip scones Sunday morning.
the best thing about srping break is how it gets me closer to April and then after that I just count down to April 15th, our last usual frost date! and then summer is ON! oh yeah and next week I'm flying out to Denver Wed for the BOY and BEAR concert that night, will stay until I get back Friday.  I have rented a car so as not to be a burden upon my hosts. only an extra $100.
Did I mention I sold some CKEC stock? and of course it's gone up 2 more dollars since then! HA! but I bought it at 1.25 so I decided to sill it and get out while it was high, I left 100 shares so it remains a good investment.  I plan to use the cash to take a tree down in the back yard. I'm still getting estimates. the last one by a company wanted $1500 for one tree, so this lady my sister works with has a conractor husband who wanted to look at the job..... ha . some of the money I'll be planning to put towards my truck payment, and/or also I need to do some repair to the roofline of my house in places.
THis summer I'm teaching 2 classes instead of just one, so that will also provide a bit of extra income. part of which I plan to spend before classes start in May on a trip to Dallas! ha
Right now I'm getting a little gift together for my buddy Scott as a housewarming present. I can't mention it in case he reads the blog, but I think ti's something he'll like for the new house! more later....

weekend buddy...........

Winter, move over........

well my buddy S got moved into his new house this weekend. He has been staying here at my place for just over a week. We drove all the way back from Bentonville to OKC last Sunday right through the winter storm, slow and steady and made it back in one piece.  It was fun having him around all week although he was pretty much on the phone with his realtor and bf about every night in preparation for finalizing the closing of the house last Friday.  It was nice having someone around watching tv with and getting meals with. Yesterday I went over there with my vacuum cleaner and helped tidy up a bit and after lunch we started going back and forth from his storage unit moving stuff into his place. A couple of friends helped us, our friends G and D. anyway  the place is a very big house with 3 bedrooms 2.5 baths and a huge game room, huge dining room etc etc and a 8ft fenced in backyard with an in ground pool and two patios (the house is sort of L shaped) the patio that you walk out from the game room has a hot tub and outdoor fireplace. the patio you walk out from the utility room which is off the kitchen, that patio has a granite topped bar, grill, fridge, and both covered patios have ceiling fans.  I can't wait to get some plants in the back yard around the pool, it's already landscaped nicely with trees and such. Will be a fun summer getting used to taking care of the pool and seeing what comes up and how he's able to manage his yard. lots of pool time coming up next summer too! :P
So we moved stuff in all afternoon and then our friend J came over, he'd been in TX for work, and we helped unpack and move boxes and J is good at putting stuff in the right place, not S's thing.
we went out to eat an Mama Roja's on lake Hefner for dinner and then left Scott on his own in his new place.  He'll be coming over again today to get some more stuff here and then I plan to head over there and hang out and vacuum up the brick surrounding his fireplace inside. I might bring a few of my afghan rugs over to see if he can use them until he gets something.
I told S that I predict us shopping on Saturdays at estate sales and such for furniture for his place. ha meanwhile.. my job is going well. still loving it and my students and just hoping to keep doing a good job.  It's weird instead of dreading going to work on a Monday how I look forward to it, and instead of not being able to wait for the semester to end, I'm sort of dreading that 'cause I like the students I have this semester. I haven't been blogging much lately, but I haven't had too many deep thoughts to share anyway. Also as i reflect upon why I'm not blogging, I think I'm still adjusting to missing all of Rugbysex's comments and then of course all of our back and forth emails that would further discussions.  alas. but thanks to readers for keeping up with me and the blog. I've decided in lieu of quitting for good I'll jsut keep it going at my own pace.
Right now I'm just looking forward to spring break.  Flying to Denver the 19th for a concert that night, Boy and Bear, and then Thursday my hosts will show me around then I fly back home Friday morning. I have a garden club meeting that Friday night go figure.  I am also making plans to get down to Dallas perhaps NEXT weekend.  I like going down there and shopping and this one particular nursery called North Haven Gardens. This year I'm shopping for Japanese Maples and Helleborus, and then whatever I think looks interesting for the yard.  I plan to stay with Randy Potts and get to hang with him and his hubby and catch up which always cheers me up. they are awesome.
I'm hoping to teach two summer classes this year instead of one, which will be extra income to save up for hopefully more travel this summer! I'm looking into going to Portland in July, and then somehow I want to visit some missionary friend in August, but I don't know since work is taking me to El Grullo Mexico for a week.  so DEFINITELY fall break gotta get outta town somewhere.
enjoy the nice sunny weekend! spring around the corner and as usual it can't come soon enough for me to get out in the yard again. :)
