come sail away with me....

cam-akazi......

big D!

Happy New Year and hello from Dallas!  I had a great time out Tuesday night with a group of guys in town, S and his bf B, couple David and Geoff, and J and DL from Houston and a friend Tom that flew in for NYE, so 8 of us at Charleston's for dinner.  I went and swam laps Tuesday before lunch and then sat around the house watching youtube videos and cleaning up and planning what to wear out to dinner of course. Yesterday morning I lounged around all morning, surfed the net a bit, finally had breakfast and then began packing a few things for my drive down to Dallas. I was hoping to get into town around lunch time, but I kept watching "The 10 worst songs of 20--" videos on youtube. ha ha I got out of the house by 10 and into Dallas by 1pm. first stop Mockingbird station, west elm, urban outfitters, american apparel, Cafe Express for lunch and then a drive up to Northpark Mall to walk around and around and people watch and shop etc... I made it to a YMCA up on Midway by 530 and swam laps before heading west to visit my friend Randy. He and his husband Keaton arrived the same time I did and we sat and ate black eye'd peas for dinner and caught up a bit.
After dinner last night we watched a movie Randy had rented called "Cruising" from '79. It was about a gay guy murdering people from the gay scene of NYC at the time and a cop goes undercover to find the killer. Paul Sorvino played the head police guy and the undercover guy was Al Pacino. We recognized one of the actors as the guy who plays Corey's dad in Boy Meets World. ha  It was a pretty interesting movie for a window into former NYC streets, although we agreed that the portrayal of the gay scene, actually the leather bar scene in the meatpacking district, was a bit hollywood and we couldnt' be sure how realistic it was showing everyone in leather and guys all walking around in jockstraps at the club... with so many forensics and crime tv shows on now, the story line pretty much goes by slowly and makes you wonder how they solved any crimes in those days....ha ha.
I am undecided this morning about whether I'll drive back to OKC from here, or go back into dallas and shop some more and then home, or maybe stay another night here at Randy's.  Get the year to a good start everybody! :)

shirtless Monday..........

chill soundtrack.......

this is mostly instrumental, good for chilling at home while feeling nostalgic about that last winter vacation or trip to NYC perhaps.... ;)

dan wear...

Went out last night to dinner with S and his bf, and our friend who just moved back to OKC J and his friend from Houston, DL.  we met up at Ted's Escondido mexican food restaurant.  Pretty much talked and talked all night over dinner. S and J are both looking for houses in the city, S is looking to find a new place for he and his bf to move into. and J is looking for land to build on.  We discussed making plans to eat out on New Years Eve, and reminisced about the one we all shared at Pappa Deaux in Dallas about 3 years ago I think it was. anyway the week is off to a good start, I was up early this morning swimming laps, was online this morning and watching some tv. Now I'm going to drive down to the outlet mall on I-40 and walk around a bit just to get out of the house, also lunch. This afternoon going to watch another Greta Gerwig movie on Netflix I found with Ben Stiller, Greenberg something...
here are the two outfits I've been wearing just about everywhere this winter break.  The first pic show the Norse Projects X Vans I bought last fall, a striped shirt from Norse Projects I found on ebay about a year and a half ago, and some grey stretch jeans that were at the BR outlet last fall, and then the new thing is the navy wool shirt/jacket I picked up on sale at Gap before Christmas. Man I've been wearing that navy shirt/jacket over everything this break.  The second photo shows the Medium brand footwear that I've blogged about for years and years and would never mention I was buying all the Medium brand footwear I could from Shoebacca online until now I mention it because everything is sold out. anyway so the Black shoes, black H&M jeans from a year ago, a lightweight black hoodie shirt I got at the Billabong store in Time Square last year, and then the red/black/plaid shirt from Fossil I got on sale before Christmas. It is SUPER comfortable, not too hot yet keeps you comfy and just the right slim fit. I love it already after just a week! :) Anyway these are the two things I plan to wear in Dallas when I head down this week.  My bud Randy was out of town tonight and working New Years Eve so we decided I will go down and visit maybe Wed or Thursday instead. who else in the world am I able to talk gardening/religious/political/world travel/language - talk and not to mention our conversation and sharing of graphic novels ?! I'm looking forward to catching up.  Happy New Year's Eve eve to you. :)
