Bill...

that is Purple Flash Pepper on the left, Capsicm annuum 'Purple Flash' All is well here in OKC btw.. about an hour and a half or more of sirens going off north and south of me. at one point the tornado was coming directly to my direction and then it started going South East. whew.... I'ts quite an experience weather watching here in OKC. partly on the porch and part all tv and internet. My ears were popping every 10 minutes or so and you know the storm is heading east but you look up at sky and see lower clouds moving west direction..strange. skies are clear now here in my part of the city...sigh. :)

almost over...

Hey just sitting here watching One Republic perform at the Oklahoma benefit concert on NBC tonight... almost started crying along with Miranda Lambert who just performed and started crying and not sing a few lines... awwwe...
anyway busy week moves along, only one more day with kids tomorrow. woo hoo!!! can't wait.
I got my truck yesterday. great day! On the way to work I drove by this guy walking and hitch hiking and I was only about 2 or 3 miles north of my school and felt guilty just passing him by in the escort with everything empty but me in there.  I never feel bad in my old Ranger since I have the passenger seat full of stuff anyway. ha, anyway, so I turned around and picked him up saying I wasn't going far, and turns out the street he was going to is the same as my school. in fact on the way he said he went to that school but didn't finish because of medical reasons and got his GED instead... anyway his stepdad didn't make it to take him to a job so he was walking back from downtown, something about missing a bus etc.... that was my good deed for the day. :)
so this is how the truck thing went down. after school I drove to the bank south of OKC and met the guy with selling my new Ranger who drove out from Shawnee.  We signed all the papers and stuff, and then I drove him back to Shawnee in the truck, man was he a talker, good old 84 year old guy grown up here in Oklahoma all his life.  then I headed back to OKC and over to southwest of town where my sister lives. I had dinner with her and family which was really nice, and then I drove her back to the bank which was just 5 miles east of her house actually...so she could drive her daughter's car back home. worked out nicely and I got home by 730ish. lond day but I got a truck. felt good and weird driving it to work this morning, but I'll get used to it.  I like the way both Rangers look in the drive, I sure hope I can get a transmission replaced in my 2000 Ford and keep driving that around town, we'll see how much $$.
I spent today getting things straightened up and organized at work, stuff thrown away, lots of stuff to get graded tomorrow. ugh.... when I got home from work I found a message on my machine from the college. a second interview. so we scheduled it for tomorrow at 4pm... breathe in breathe out breathe in breath breath breathe..... I'm not sure what the second interview will be but I'm ready to defend myself whatever questions they want to ask!! better believe it. I'm hoping it will involve talking to someone higher up in the college maybe? I can't imagine it's with the same 6 people but we'll see....I can't begin to tell you how awesome it would be if they were able to offer me the job tomorrow. I keep imagining if I'd just starting tearing up right then and there. ha or if I'd play the keep a secret game all day Friday with my teaching staff at my current job. ha ha.. but I'm not getting my hopes up, I have to be prepared to take what comes my way. doors open or shut. whew...
My sister and family is actually at the benefit concert tonight downtown, is why I'm watching. I'm trying to decide about going down with the church Saturday morning to help out, or if I want to wait til I'm out of school and then I can just go down and help out weekdays when there are less people...check out the concert on NBC tonight if you feel like helping out.

ranger man...

I found a truck today! finally can rest easy and return the Ford Escort to my niece which has no air con... plus I miss riding around in a truck. the escort definitely kept me humble though.
I'll post a pic of the car I found on Craigslist out in Shawnee (east of OKC).  basically I've been looking all this time and finding NOTHING in OKC.... and all the Ford Rangers were either way over my $15k budget, the 2011's that were had a price of 13 or 14k and were either in Kansas or Texas... SO, when I saw this 2011 with low mileage at a price of only $12,5000, I called 'em up and drove right out, in place of me and the ex gf seeing a movie, she went out there with me to check it out.
An 84 year old guy bought the truck last year with 6,5000 miles on it and replaced the bed in the back and the cab side . the truck had been hit in the side, no windows busted but the cab side just a bit and the bed. which he replaced ,  everything else seems to be excellent condition and the guy was going to keep it as his truck to drive forever, but he decided he needed something to haul his wells fargo trailer with more weight to it, and so he got a Ford 150... something like that. I guess I trust the guy more or less, I'm going for it. left him a check deposit of $500 so he wouldnt' sell it to anyone else before I get back with my check after school tomorrow. glad to have that off my back AND it's a low price with a supercab, AND this means I won't have to find someone to drive me to Kansas next weekend to buy the regular cab Ranger at 13.900 up there same year and mileage.
in other news, there is no other news, I have 3 days of classes with kids this week, our last!!!!! :)
I plan a few activities and then have them help me pack up. We teachers have also been known to say to kids, hey, it's okay if you dont' come to school tomorrow or the next, no really! ha ha..
tomorrow will be a busy one, calling my insurance and the bank, and then getting a check and driving to my sisters house to return the Escort and then she'll drive me all the way back to Shawnee about 45minutes. whew.  but with any luck I'll be driving back in a new truck and let the moving jobs continue. and road trip to Dallas. etc etc etc.. hope all enjoyed a good Memorial weekend!

boat weekend...

get up and running..

mechanical man...

is that me, my life? just going through the motions day by day, week by week, year by year, same ole same ole, knowing I should be working toward something but not knowing what direction i should take?....nope, this post is not about that, it's actually a movie title "The Giant Mechanical Man". perhaps you've seen it come across your netflix menu.. great film.
a nice slow going quirky movie about two people lost in the world who are getting behind and feeling misunderstood by others around them, love story of course, set in Detroit MI of all place. brrrrr
anyway if you get a chance to check it out , go for it and get back to me and what ya thunk.
I am having a great long weekend. Friday about did me out what with the zoo field trip with the kids, best part was the baby gorilla there, getting the kids to the bus stop back downtown in time to walk over to the bombing memorial and then back to catch the bus to school...then right after work I ran up to the whole foods grocery store to get some things, and then to walmart to get 5 rotisserie chickens for the garden club meeting.  called my mom when I got home to ask her if I had to cut them up or could I just serve them whole. she said with people in a buffet line, cut them up first so people didnt have to. ha and ughh..
so then I spend a bunch of time cutting 'em up and getting all the meat off and ina dish, finally make it to the meeting by 530 to set up and get stuff going. home later and crashing.
Saturday morning i had a teacher training thing which I purposefully went to an hour late, then made it home eventually to enjoy my Saturday! lot of yardwork and some cleaning up the house. and then watching a bit of netflix. I'm starting a series called "Monarch of the Glen", a BBC show.
anyway today was church and then home again until my ex gf from college showed up from AR.  we hung out here a bit and then went to the Paseo Arts Festival here in OKC, walked all over, people watched and checked out all the booths. ate some excellenet food, stopped by the asian grocery store on the way home, and also Best Buy to get me some new computer speakers so we could watch  a movie tonight on my computer and using the club projector. what movie? Mechanical Man of course. great little movie...anyway crashing now.

rock it new kid!

big boat weekend! ...

nice, uh, shorts...
