no gym today but,...

did anyone else hear the "this american life" program today? It was a really good one. I was in tears at the very end, such a well researched and told tale... it goes in a lot of directions throughout. Find it online and hear the podcast, do they still call them podcasts? ha ha. anyway, it was excellent.
I was up early this morning and driving to Bustani Plant Farm south of Stillwater Oklahoma for my annual purchase of landscaping perennials. This year I took along my vet friend with me for the ride, catching up all the way there and back.  She is very aware of animal welfare and on the way back we passed a turtle in the middle of the road, she was all serious and excited about pulling over, going back, and helping it get across. and we did just that. She jumped out and picked it up and carried over a few yards past the roadside. what a great vet!
anyway, after getting back a bit before lunch time, I got a call from my friend A. She was fixing a section of a fence in the back yard and needed some help getting one of the old cemented in posts out. This was right as I had ended the radio show, and felt a little refreshed from the feeling and tears. I told her I'd right over, just had to pick up a Jersy Mike's sandwich first....went over there for about hour talking and helping and joking around..
Had to get over to the garden center by 2pm for a board meeting of our club.turns out they'd already had the meeting earlier and so I jsut went to lunch with everyone instead at On the Border... 7 of us sat around there for a couple of hours eating and chatting. I had a chicken quesadilla and salad, man I was full since I'd already had a sandwich earlier.  But I found out they wanted to nominate to be regionals chairman next summer ( we are hosting the regional meeting next summer for the garden club, ours and kansas and missouri etc etc blah blah).  I declined and said that I'd better get to these meetings from now on so I'd not be elected for anything else. ha ha, all jokingly.
I did agree that they could put my house on the garden tour next summer, so that will be fun to plan for and get ready for next summer. I got home by around 430 and worked outside for a good 2 hours or more cutting branches and taking wheelbarrow loads of cut up branches to the front curb. This was from all the downed branches from the icy rain Wednesday.  Really just enjoyed being outside all evening and talking to the dog next door from time to time. the neighbor's dog is stuck on a chain anchored in the middle of the yard and can just reach my fence. It's some sort of shepherd healer mix. I got to thinking whether it'd had water all day, and brought it a bowl of water. right as the dog was drinking the neighbor girl arrived home and came to the back yard to show some friend her dog I guess.. (college grad girl who lives there with some roomates, her parents had bought the house a few years ago for the older sis to live in until married, now the younger one lives there). anyway, I felt weird having given the dog some water, but the girl either didn't notice or didn't care.
no dinner tonight, go figure I wasn't ever hungry enough. this has been a great beautiful weekend though.  I look forward to getting back to the gym downtown this week.  when I have a move it saves time to just go to that gym instead of driving back across town to workout and then go back to the southside for a move job.  well anyway, there is a solid tall type guy, balding a little but shaved head and scruffy beard. he's got a nice solid beard, anyway, I've been giving him the sly eye and trying to catch his eyes, i think he may have noticed and may be on the same team. anyway I just bring it up becuase it makes that gym more interesting.
not like I'm looking or anything, I'm just saying this guy looks preettty cool.... hopefully soon I cna get leadst a name. ha

chesty....

thirstday....

thatguy asked about my thoughts on the article. well I can definitely relate to it. I never came out in college actually, but I had an incident I've blogged about long time ago. where before I moved away from town after I'd graduated and having packed up my room where I was living off campus with 5 other guys sharing a house. I'd left some printed pics of guys under my mattress and everything got packed but that... when I returned from moving my stuff back home to OKC, a few of my roomies and I went out that night for coffee and check out the book store in Fayetteville, and they told me about how some other of the guys had found that while moving stuff around in the room and deciding who'd live in my old room next etc etc.. anyway they just said whatever and how all the guys didn't care and they loved me regardless etc etc and was I okay going away to the mission field and would I be bringing any porn with me... IT was actually done very nicely and kindly and I love all those guys to this day, we're all friends and still see each other at homecomings etc etc.. but I remember at the time I was pissed off at myself like nothing else for letting it happen, letting my personal secret get out there and out of my control. man that really sucked. but of course looking back now I can see that had something to do with how I thought everyone perceived me and how desperately I only wanted to be seen and thought of as a normal straight male accepted by any other, and not as GAY.
years before that one of my best friends from okc had found out and her husband also... they are a couple I visit and stay with whenever in town. it was years after that that I told my ex gf, after she'd been married a few years, I think i came out to her and her husband during a long car ride. she told me years after that how awkward it was for her and that she'd had no idea at all. ( I had thought for sure a mutual friend had told her by then, but nope). ha
ANother thing I can relate to is all the nudity male bonding and humor going around at my college. I guess if you can't get into trouble by drinking or drugs, you tend to look for good clean trouble like nude pranks and jokes. streaking, etc... although there was the crowd of smokers and drinkers too of course. In fact one of the roomies I mentioned before was an RA in college once and for a couple of years he would do a prank to freshman guys hanging out late night hours in the atrium of the dorm, like a small group sitting around past 1 am or something, anyway he'd run out to 'em with nothing on but a tool belt and say, "You guys call maintenance?" ha ha
this week has flown by and I'm glad.did another move job today after school. went to the gym downtown after work, arm day, and then over to my friend a's workplace by 530 to move furniture out of one trailer on the lot to another.
so I've just finished my usual dinner followed up by two bowls of Trix cereal! that' can't be good. and I'm about to get ready for bed and watch the last few episodes of The Outs.  bring on the weekend!

mad hatters....

midweek again...

what a great spring day!  woke to cold icy rain thundering down outside, winds blowing, drove to work in the rain, rained all morning, you get the idea... after work, I came home to fine the whole neighborhood with trees all covered in ice. got to my house and branches were all over the yard. I have two awful silver maples in the back yard and sure enough, branches had fallen down, a couple crashing and breaking parts of the picket fence out back. a few hanging on an electric line and phone line... I got    the branch cutters and started trimming up branches and pushing the larger ones off the cables and off the fence. lots of good work. then quick inside to change to get to the gym, I decided not to run on the treadmill since I'd already warmed up with all the yardwork.... had to pick up a package at the post office, some pencils I ordered from India on ebay, don't ask, it was a random purchase..
got back home and continued the clean up outside. until I was so hungry had to get inside, warm up, have dinner and settle in.
just making it through the week. I'm really thankful for the rain, it's always a good thing, for my trees and landscaping outside.  The local feed store called that I could pick up the 3 five gallon buckets I'd left last weekend. they sell rabbit manure which is great for the flowerbeds. So i picked that up on the way home and after cleaning up the branches on the side of the house, I spread out the manure in case it rains anymore this week. get it watered in.
I watched a very cool move last weekend on Netflix. I thought I'd mention it.  Safety Not Guaranteed !
very fun quirky film I'm not saying it was the most unpredictable film, but it really kept me going with the characters and everything. If you have Netflix, check it out.
I keep getting a lot of ideas for things I need to blog about, but running out of time to get into my deep thoughts mode. I'll try to get some better blogging going this weekend. hope every one is enjoying spring.

not much, you.....

in or out...

had a great time last night at dinner, there ended up being about 8 of us. Iguana grill downtown and afterwards I shopped at this interesting store there I think it's partly owned by Wayne from Flaming Lips, anyway, I got my buddy in AR a t-shirt there from some European tour.
A friend at dinner last night, D's bf G, well he mentioned this web series he's been watching. so I watched the first three episodes tonight (they're about 20 minutes long). There are seven in all. You can watch them all online for free. Basically it's about 2 gay guys that used to date and them meeting new people etc etc.. check it out here if interested at The Outs.
