how do you say....

from a report with 22 such graphs of how we say things differently across the country. as an English professor and ESL teacher I was all over this. ha
I was born in Texas and went to Bowie Elementary for a year, now I know why I say it like a Texan...ha
also, they left out "you'uns" which I've heard in AR.. :)

Too bad each picture doesn't have individual discussion space! Great post. I am from Bo wie land, but we always said Boo wie, because of Jim Bowie. I didn't know anyone said Bo wie. Funny how much family can influence, even within the local dialectical group.

Note the connection between central Maryland, where the town of "Bowie" is pronounced "Boowie," and the southwestern territory where Jim Bowie achieved fame.

As you "you" variations, there is also "all y'all" for multiple interlocutors....

Very inter-sting.
