shirtless Monday..........

chill soundtrack.......

this is mostly instrumental, good for chilling at home while feeling nostalgic about that last winter vacation or trip to NYC perhaps.... ;)

dan wear...

Went out last night to dinner with S and his bf, and our friend who just moved back to OKC J and his friend from Houston, DL.  we met up at Ted's Escondido mexican food restaurant.  Pretty much talked and talked all night over dinner. S and J are both looking for houses in the city, S is looking to find a new place for he and his bf to move into. and J is looking for land to build on.  We discussed making plans to eat out on New Years Eve, and reminisced about the one we all shared at Pappa Deaux in Dallas about 3 years ago I think it was. anyway the week is off to a good start, I was up early this morning swimming laps, was online this morning and watching some tv. Now I'm going to drive down to the outlet mall on I-40 and walk around a bit just to get out of the house, also lunch. This afternoon going to watch another Greta Gerwig movie on Netflix I found with Ben Stiller, Greenberg something...
here are the two outfits I've been wearing just about everywhere this winter break.  The first pic show the Norse Projects X Vans I bought last fall, a striped shirt from Norse Projects I found on ebay about a year and a half ago, and some grey stretch jeans that were at the BR outlet last fall, and then the new thing is the navy wool shirt/jacket I picked up on sale at Gap before Christmas. Man I've been wearing that navy shirt/jacket over everything this break.  The second photo shows the Medium brand footwear that I've blogged about for years and years and would never mention I was buying all the Medium brand footwear I could from Shoebacca online until now I mention it because everything is sold out. anyway so the Black shoes, black H&M jeans from a year ago, a lightweight black hoodie shirt I got at the Billabong store in Time Square last year, and then the red/black/plaid shirt from Fossil I got on sale before Christmas. It is SUPER comfortable, not too hot yet keeps you comfy and just the right slim fit. I love it already after just a week! :) Anyway these are the two things I plan to wear in Dallas when I head down this week.  My bud Randy was out of town tonight and working New Years Eve so we decided I will go down and visit maybe Wed or Thursday instead. who else in the world am I able to talk gardening/religious/political/world travel/language - talk and not to mention our conversation and sharing of graphic novels ?! I'm looking forward to catching up.  Happy New Year's Eve eve to you. :)

time off weekend............

well I hope everyone survived Christmas holidays all right. I had a really nice time this year, I had dinner with my folks and an aunt on the 24th and then went back over to my parent's house on the 25th around lunch time when my brother arrived with his wife and one of his daughters and her hubby. was a good light lunch and we got to visit and chat and eventually my two sisters came over early to visit with the family before all their kids and husbands arrived and the house filled up for the buffet dinner starting around 6ish as planned. we did gifts next, my siblings and I had drawn names including our parents.  Next the little youngest kids opened gifts from whoever, and then all my niece and nephews and their spouses who had also did a name exchange. we sat around and just talked and talked for a while before everyone going their own way. we were 30 this year, it would have been 36 but my youngest sister and her family didn't come this year.
it's funny how everyone does Christmas differently, I know my buddy S was home and done that afternoon. he went to an open house sort of party at a gay couple's place in okc. THrusday I pretty much did nothing, I can't even remember, I think I was online checking about websites and being all handsy, I ran some errands went to the gym to swim etc, that' about it. I got this Netflix movie in the mail, Damsels in Distress, which I'd been looking forward to viewing since I'm a huge Whit Stillman fan.  I went ahead and rewatched Metropolitan, another Whit Stilmman film, and then that afternoon a few youtube videos of interviews with the director about both flms.  At some point after my dinner I wrapped a gift for my Austin bud who was coming back over to stay the night before leaving Friday.
After he arrived we watched the movie and towards the end there was a knock at my door.  It was a buddy I know from town and who works at my gym and the local school as a coach.  he didn't realize I had company and saw my lights on and wanted to drop by like he's done before. so we made small talk and then he left on his way unsatisfied I suppose at not finding me alone. ;)
My Austin bud left after breakfast Friday and I went and swam laps and then lunch and piddled around. Friday night I met up my buddy S at the mall. I'd arrived a bit earlier than he and went into the Fossil store to try and chat up the manager ,who is a super cute dark haired guy from London, the accent alone just KILLS an anglophile like me.  well the guy is always very friendly anytime S and his bf are in there, but I was like completely invistble and got nothin' ! ha just a nice asian sales guy helping me and also very nice. anyway so S and I went back there and the guy wasn't even there at that point. Ever shop Fossil store? they have pretty much the same basic all American colors and styles as any mall store but I like that it's a different brand than the conventional J Crew/Banana Republic/Gap etc stores.  (same goes for why I like shopping the store at the outlet mall).  We went up for a bite to eat at the food court next and then to the theater at the mall for a movie, Secret Life of Walter Mitty.  It's an awesome film!! really really liked it!! so adventurous and positive.
You'll never guess what I did today though, I actually had a sort of date with a guy. we met at a coffee place in OKC called the red cup to hang out and talk.  THing is, I met this guy a couple times for brief quick sort of meetings late night at my place back when I fooled around before leaving the country to teach overseas.  I mainly cut out all that business when I came back end of 2008. well anyway, so I'd ran into him on an online chat site, one that I used to look around on but these days when I'm off work for a long time and get in the mood, I pretty much just search different cities and pics etc... well we chatted a bit, and he asked me what was my story, and we decided to meet up.  He's also a college prof, but he has his Dr and works at a university near OKC.  He also lived in NYC before and we enjoyed talking about musicals, being profs, and he's very good friends with  a woman at my work and also a former college buddy who lives here in OKC etc.. we talked for a good while gosh I guess about 2 hours or more.
We mentioned maybe getting together again next week, which i'm not sure if that's going to be tomorrow or Wednesday since I plan to leave town Monday for Dallas to see my bud Randy and shop around a bit.  Guess we'll see how it plays out tomorrow evening.  I suppose I'm up for pursuing it, he's my same age and 6'6 and has had a boyfriend before etc.. but I don't know what I want even going into this. while we were texting after I went and swam laps today before lunch and then went out to pizza, the first thing I texted him was that I was completely socially inept on how to proceed in this situation, and that it was unclear whether he was looking to hang out or just get a bj.  He texted that he wanted to meet up and talk and get to know. so that was pretty cool. I wasn't in the mood for much action today anyway after a hands-on morning.
today I watched another indy film on Netflix called Frances Ha . Really loved that film, NYC scenes and living and the main character soul searching and finding her way! so awesome really enjoyed it. add it to your Netflix list. also consider Metropolitan, also you should watch Price Check with Parker Posey, I think i've mentioned that one before. tonight I watched The Kitchen, another indy film on Netflix. I also tried watching the first half of C.O.G tonight and got up to the part where dreamy Corey Still's character makes a move on the lead role played by Jonathon Groff. but lost interest and started blogging. am ready for ZZZzzzzz now.

hey good buddy.....

happy yet?

Happy Holidays men!

Christmas Eve day

good morning and Merry Christmas.  I've been keeping busy with my days off running around and last minute shopping. Friday I baked some more cookies and then that afternoon drove south of OKC to where my friend A sells trailor homes (where we move furniture in and out of them on the lot) and brought her and coworkers some cookies. Then I went down on south shields where a former English student and friend who is a Mexican immigrant and has a little mechanic shop in a rented garage in this building behind a car dealer (?). Anyway he's a great honest hardworking guy and I owe a lot of my Spanish to him when we would talk during class about every night and he'd help me with my Spanish and I'd help him with his English.  I've had my truck parked at his garage since I bought my new one last May.  Turns out he's ha trouble finding a rebuilt transmission to put in it, I told him I should probably just get rid of it and for him to tell me how much I should sell it for. He said $800 and since I was going to be happy with anything over 500 I said, yes! ha, he's actually buying it for himself to use to all car parts in.  Funny thing is when I left I could see a backpack and pair of shoes in the cab of my old truck and an axle in the back bed, so looks like he's already making use of it. I told him, Uli, that he could pay me after Christmas sometime in Jan or such and I'd bring over the title when he's ready.
that reminds me I need to check with state farm to see if the thing is still insured for liability in case he is driving it, seems like I remember keeping it insured anyway. Friday night I had pizza out with my vet friend Am and we caught up and chatted about the holidays stuff and made plans to get out and shop after Christmas.  I have to admit sometimes we on't have a whole lot to talk about since she's not interested in anything same as I am but, but alas we are friends from high school and both single and I know she needs to get out and socialize because she's pretty shy and introverted, sort of like a nervous little bird if that makes sense. I always thing back to how when she was a senior and I was a sophomore that she'd give me a ride home from school every now and then since i couldn't drive yet and she lived down the road from me, we only happened to be friends from helping each other in Geometry class or maybe Pre Calc. ha I don't remember.
Saturday was fun, I spent most of it picking up around the house, getting my tree out of the attic and set up and decorated. This year I used all my souvenir ornaments.- from Honduras, wooden crosses covered on one side with glitter glued on, basket woven little fish ornaments, and little pillow ornaments with holly or poinsettia stitched on them. From Afghanistan little handmade stuffed animal camels and little people in robes and scarfs. From India hand-painted paper mache ornaments. fun to remember all those places. I also worked all weekend on this hanging decoration for over the table. I plan to take it to my folks' place tonight in prep for Christmas dinner tomorrow with the family. It's an idea I got off the internet. I had a leftover piece of plexi glass that I cut down, drilled holes in, and then hung 80 ornaments from string underneath. Saturday night I met my buddy S at the mall and we shopped around a bit and then saw the new Hobbit movie! it was AWESOME!!! LOVED IT SO MUCH. I also came home with a couple new shirts, well they are actually sort of shirt-jacket type things, I love to wear stuff in layers so much in getting outfits together for work, since it's so cold in the morning I like a sweater or shirt or hoodie to wear over my shirt and tie during my first class maybe and then de layer as the morning warms up. I'll try to post a pic!
Sunday I surprised my family at my former church in Yukon west of OKC. I thought it'd be nice for sake of Christmas, and My mom and sisters were happy to see me. :)  then I went  home with my mom and dad to visit and hang out for while. also I wanted to measure stuff for decorations.
Sunday night I pretty much watched Sound of Music online, surfed the internet both good and bad ;)/. I went ahead and signed on to a gay chat site and a former buddy found me online and wanted to come over. I told him maybe this week it would be cool. It's weird to be celibate for a couple years and suddenly have a bit of opportunity for fun.  I really used to like this guy when he lived int OKC. He has a very fat big piece and is mixed race guy working in Kansas City now as a med school intern. A really great guy! apparently he's all closet and doesn't fool around in KC but I dont' believe that for a second. ha
Yesterday I got a call from my Austin buddy H who asked to sleepover when he arrived in town last night, I said absolutely.  Yesterday I baked more cookies to take to the neighbors, chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cookies with rolo candy in the middle.  also ran errands to the grocery store yesterday to get some flowers to bring to mom for Christmas, a tradition for me it seems. I've been swiming laps twice a day still and when I arrive home yesterday, my friend A called to borrow my pickup. I told her to not come over and get my truck, but just let me meet her at the furntiture store. So I drove and met her on her way home from work and we loaded up a big ole box with a dresser inside and took it over to her and her pregnant wife's house.  unloaded it with the help of a friend and then I sat around a bit and visited and loved them, they are awesome. picked up the place so it'd look nice when H arrived, and then crashed into bed, My Austin bud H got in around 1 am and woke me up as he got into bed.  I just went swimming laps this morning and then came home and got back into bed, he murmered good morning to me and then went right back to sleep. So I'm just sitting here typing up this post and next plan to get myself some breakfast and then maybe start doing some baking again until he gets up. He'll leave to his folks place around lunch I think. Although he said he wanted to go to the gym at some point today before they close at 2pm.
Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy the holidays!! :)
