thanks for the comment who left this link.
not sure if it's hot or way out there, but it's definitely interesting..
bucket list: get a video posted on a closet gay blog. check. :P

gay agenda in OKC

Randy and his beau are in town for the kick off of their performance art tour "Gay Agenda". It's along nw 16th street in the plaza district east of Penn. so make sure you get a chance to go by and check it out if interested. you can read more about it here at Towleroad, or here at gayly oklahoman...
they got off to a good start last night although it dipped down pretty cold. luckily they are inside a storefront window, sitting on a couch and going about their "daily business as a gay couple." they arrived pretty late here last night around 12 and I shooed them right off to bed, this morning they were up and out of here by 8 am. They'll be going 8-8pm and then again tomorrow I think until 7pm?? Was awesome to see Randy and K here in OKC. Randy hasn't been by my place in several years like pre-kabul trip days. I had fun showing him my rugs and latest graphic novel purchases and he took some of my DVD's with him to watch today while they're sitting around etc..
My place has never been cleaner, ha. I had it all picked up and ready to receive guests, bathroom scrubbed and cleaned, bed sheets changed, got all my stuff I needed over to the guest room for me to sleep on the twin in there etc.. I have a garden club meeting/lunch today, and then hope to go by and see them either before or after running by my folks place. (I bough some lumber and asked my dad to make a 3/5 frame for me to stretch a canvas on, and he emailed this week he was already finished, now if I can just find where I shoved away that canvas.. .ugh).
Went with okc buddy S last night to the OKCMOA to see the Oscar nominated short films showing at 5:30 this weekend. tonight we may go see the live action films nominated showing at 8pm. enjoy your weekend. you just gotta know that spring is around the corner!
BTW I withdrew my name from the ahbu dahbi jo - they FINALLY emailed Friday with the cities and dates, and the date for Houston was the same weekend as my nieces wedding in wichita during spring break, so forget, plus my heart wasn't in to, the whole leave for 2 years thing and desert living. blah!
sad news, I'm not yet sure I'll get to europe for spring break either, dang it all, the wedding is the weekend right in between my 2 weeks off, so alas, perhaps this summer i'll get to use that ding dang passport again. ha in the meantime plans are for Austin for SXSW and then maybe DC the last week of my spring break. I'm waiting for inspiration what to do and of course good flight prices anywhere. :P

I'll fly away...

Okla. senator introduces amendment to protect semen

Anti-abortion Oklahoma lawmakers continue to push for tighter restrictions on abortion.

Right now, the legislature is considering a bill that gives "personhood" status to embryos and requiring women seeking an abortion to first listen to the heartbeat of a fetus.

In protest of the personhood bill, Senator Constance Johnson introduced an amendment to the personhood bill declaring every sperm is sacred. Her amendment states: “Any action in which a man ejaculates or otherwise deposits semen anywhere but in a woman’s vagina shall be interpreted and construed as an action against an unborn child.”

The senator later voted with her colleagues to table the amendment and told the Guardian newspaper her amendment was to prove a point;

“As a woman and a 31-year veteran of the legislative process in Oklahoma, I am increasingly offended by state law trends that solely focus on the female's role in the reproductive process. With Oklahoma's new, never-before-experienced Republican majority, we are seeing enactment of more and more measures that adversely affect women and their rights to access safe medical procedures when making reproductive healthcare decisions.”

The personhood bill is currently being debated in the Health and Human Services committee.

anyway my impressions are, not that anyone asks but I guess that's what a blog is for, :).. I was a little unsure about the mom's "stand by my kid" regardless attitude, and whether you agree with the picture being in the book or not, I don't like the argument they keep repeating about it being "artistic"... the yearbook just wants a photograph not art. I kept imagining future students drawing, painting, or photoshopping their pics any way they want.. I guess the news does like any "school scandal" but this was pretty lame and only makes the subjects sort of fit right into a stereotype...

long tuesday

class was a bit better tonight but I'm still finding my groove. this class is a lot quieter than last semester's. day job going well... new student has a personality and NO ENGLISH but a good education background which is cool. Our school (day job) is busting it's butt to get a 20% improvement in the end of instruction grades, but it's sort of like cramming for a test in college so we'll see what happens. blah blah. It's interesting to think about all the schools working so hard to make the grade with so many from a bilingual background. what a mess illegal immigration can cause. I was listening to a radio interview the other talking about people who were "anti-immigration" , what's up with that?! no one is anti immigration.... what they were talking about is the issue of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.. oh man semantics just drive me crazy, people are anti-illegal immigration, are fed-up with non-enforcement of laws in a country supposedly based on the rule of law.... there's a big difference. anyway, don't get me started...blah blah.
man this was a LONG day.. but I'm glad to be teaching Tuesday night instead of Monday nights this semester. sure helps getting to go home after work on a MOnday, and then after Tuesday night suddenly it's Wednesday and the week is moving along. hope all are having a great week. I worked out chest on Monday and tomorrow it's all about ARMS.. feels good to get back to it!
I've decided to switch out my Honey Nut Cheerios in the morning to plain Cheerios. and after the current bag of chocolate chips runs out, I'll quit having Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches with chocolate chips in them, so yummy. I'm thinking I should switch to something healthier like fish or tuna at night. ha of course I hope to start doing morning swims again once spring hits and it warms up a bit. urghhhh. bring on SPRING!

more GROOVSIONS ...

well I was shopping a bit and checking up on website Groovisions and saw some pretty cool stuff I thought I'd like to have stuff for maybe 300 yen to 3000 yen, however no deal. the shipping alone was an extra $50 for whatever reason so I'll just post some pics instead.
I wanted the above pillow, because the black and white is cool and the graphic definitely different. and the above tape rolls, the second one blue is masking tape size, and I thought that'd be cool to stick on my students' papers. ha and then below is a roll of notepads that are perforated every 10cm and have an ice graphic on the back of each sheet. Hope you've enjoyed my post on Groovisions design, I'll have to post things I already have around the house from them sometime.
