no one can argue that the system has been and continues to be corrupted by money. BUT, when SCOTUS ruled in buckley v. valeo that spending money to influence elections is a form of constitutionally protected free speech, it effectively prevented state and federal legislatures from curtailing or regulating how much money can be raised by candidates to run for elected office. no one has yet figured out how to de-link money and free speech. until that happens we'll continue to have the best democracy money can buy. it's easy for occupy wall street to state the obvious. why don't they do something constructive and suggest a solution to the problem.

Money and politics have been codependent since the begining of recorded history, and likely before.
