summertime....

good weekend, anyone see Buck Hollywood on youtube promoting WhitesLies in NYC on broadway? it looks like a pretty good show. I am here in OKC getting through another hot summer... no news from any schools, but I'm thinking since a lot of okc schools couldn't hire back the new teachers they may have already filled positions with some of those teachers etc...and to be honest, my heart is really in higher ed. I can't tell you how much fun it is up there in front of a bunch of adults and young adults who want to make an A and get something out of the class. big time fulfilling. I am a week into my summer class and the students a really good set so far. a few no shows that hopefully will drop, a few military guys, single mom's, guys laid off, kids just starting out with college wanting to transfer to a univeristy, the whole shabang of variety. I've already graded their first assignemnt, a goal's letter, and so far they can all basically write ok in English and some jsut need a lot more fine tuning than others. It is also always interesting to hear about their various goals for being in college and how they hope to really try and not fail this time (some students). and there is one hot tall dark-haired clark kent type that wears black t-shirts and 501 jeans and boots sort of okie style who wants to be a meteorologist, another girl just began recovery a few months back and is excited to try college while not on drugs or alcohol binges. what an inspiring group. It is pretty intensive because one class in the summer is a week's worth of a regular semester. they already have a rough draft due this tuesday, and a final paper due Thursday... I'm really going to try and guide them each step of the way and cut out a few of the activities and homework we might have during a semester class.. but it will be by no means any easier. My expectation remain the same for what they will learn to research and cite and write etc...
Did I mention i was up swimming laps at 7 am every day last week. all 5! I plan to do same next week. really keeps my energy up all day and I just want to get in the habit of swimming mornings all summer! cardio cardio cardio...
an okc friend of mine and I went to an older gay couple's house to swim in their nice enclosed backyard pool FRiday, what a blast, it was set up all nice with speakers in the walls, a dressing room with b/r and towells, fridge with water and beer. real nice time. later we had grilled hamburgers at his place with some beef his parents had sent home from the farm. great time, watched a bit of "the babysitter's dead" and beginning of Mama Mia until I had had enough of that and came back home. ha
looking forward to this next week and seeing my Austin bud in town on Thursday. basically just working, teaching some, and picking up my place and watering the yard.. ahhh summmer...

nice swimsuit...

there are some guys at the park I work at that walk aroundin shorts that were never meant to be swimwear.. it's prety funny because they don't wear anything underneath either, and it's one thing to wear shorts at the lake in the water, I mean I grew up in cut[offs swimming in the lake as a kid, no prob. but gym shorts at the water park?
once in a blue moon there is a tattooed redneck type not too nastified from drug abuse that looks actually sort of hot in their cotton gym shorts out of the pool with anatomically correct bulge right there in front of God and everybody that you just can't help notice whether you're gay or straight or want to see it or not. ha
it's pretty funny the variety of people fat, tattooed, pierced, that just let it all hang out in a swimsuit. sometimes I think "you go girl!"... ahh well... super skinny boys out there too and it reminds me of myself in high school and was I ever that skinny looking (yes I was). I need to find other summer work next year maybe.
I start back up my summer class tomorrow, 2 and a half hours stuck in a room with me, these students don't know what's about to hit them.. ha the weird thing is it's a computer assisted classroom. From day one I"ll clearly explain computer monitors OFF unless we're doing a specific computer activity etc etc... should only help with getting stuff done in class though.
my Austin buddy called last week to say he's in town in a few weeks with some guy I never heard the name of before... hmm maybe a new bf who knows. prolly jsut a friend. but we haven't been keeping in touch very well later so I dunno. I DO KNOW that I am swimming every morning and not eating sugar and working out every day until he arrives. ha 2 weeks, I know.. BUT he emailed me a pic a few weeks ago of how buff he's become since the breakup..so the competition is ON.
I also decided from now on I'm not eating anymore milkshakes, and that when I do eat a milkshake it will only be on the occassion. for example, my friend visiting, I'll order a milkshake while out with him as if I ALWAYS eat those milkshakes yet still keep in shape.. ha ha. yeah I guess I have a passive agressive side..
