I'm in NYC, long day of travel, AWESOME EXCELLENT time this evening. a sheer blast. broadway show, backstage to meet the CAST!!! back in my shoebox hotel room. more posting tomorrow as time allows. im CRASHING into this bed as soon as I get back from the shower down the hall......

out of OKC on my way...

sitting here at the Minneapolis airport. just ate a egg/bacon/croissant sandwich for breakfast. was up at 4 am this morning getting dressed and out the door by 4:20. ( I decided between going to bed last night and getting up this morning to switch out my nike tennis shoes I'd packed for a black leather DocMarten pair, the solid black will be more versatile and the tennis shoes said summer to me). ANYWAY. so I'm staring out the window at the snow falling and the guys our working in all that cold, and planes taking off ROAR and ZOOM.
I should arrive this afternoon in NYC and make my way to my hotel and get all checked in by 4pm ish..and settled, then just get OUT and experience walking all over the area making my way up to broadway for a show by 7pm. I watched the tree light up on tv from Rockefeller center last night, well actually just the end of the show where they lit it up. Otherwise I was watching PBS channell about A to Z of Tulsa. Did you know the Yield road sign was invented and had begun being used there? Tulsa also had the largest Oil refinery in the world at one time.
back to my trip....I slept on the small plane from OKC, funny when you have row 6 and that's actually about middle of the plane... I hope to sleep more on this next flight to LGA, otherwise I have my ipod with me with some "this american life" podcasts, and my suduko book (that I've taken on every travel with me since I've started this blog..) and the current New Yorker, so I can actually read the part about what's going on in town with some realistic options of things to do. .. .. okay, now I'm noticing this guy at the gate for my flight and wondering... will he be seated next to me???

Robert Isabell ....NYC

I couldnt' resist ordering the catalog for the auction of Robert Isabell's collection of art/furniture. It arrive earlier this week and I've been going through it wishing I could have lived in the space he lived in and had it decorated exactly as such. Well, my own personal style would have been mixed in of course. Living vicariously through the pages. ha. I posted about Robert Isabell, the event planner, earlier here. I'm going to see if I can include a walk-by his place while in NYC next weekend jsut to take a photo. :)
btw, I'm going to print up Wyatt's suggestion that he emailed. but if anyone familiar with NYC wants to give me suggestions on getting from LGA to the West Village. I'm all ears. I've done the "$20" taxi thing before which was not $20. and thought I'd try a public transport bus this time maybe??? packed today and cleaned up the whole house to have it clean to come back to. also made some plans with a few guys in NYC. less than two days and I'm there, baby!!
(ED. hey thanks for the emails and suggestions. I'm prolly doing the M60 and N train one way, and the express bus on the way back! :) ahh yeah...)

what to bring.....

well for any long time readers you know how I like to practice pack before any trip. I did laundry today and set aside things for the NYC trip. My plan is to bring one carry-on and bring home one checked in bag from the shoping. first off, 3 pairs of jeans, blue, black, and gray(one of which I'll be wearing on the plane). next is a pair of brown converse shoes, and then still deciding which or what kind of black shoe, also bringing this scarf most likely.... I'll be wearing my most awesome comfy brown Sanuks on the plane of course, easy slip on/off. there will be the brown sweater, white thermal, and some short sleeve shirts to wear over the long sleeve thermal shirt. yeah, I still try and rock that look, I'll admit.
if you happen to be out at some gay bars in NYC next weekend, that could be me in the Kozyndan graphic T, either standing alone drinking a beer and fake-checking my watch or phone as if I'm wondering where the person is I'm supposed to meet so I don't look so alone.. ha.
I'm bringing one dark green nylon shirt jacket, and then the basic generic black NorthFace thermal jacket I got last year. My goal is to shop for a coat or jacket or two while there to return with. I think it's going to be wet and cold next weekend. just my luck, but with all the Christmas stuff up, and of course I'll be stopping by the tree at Rockefeller plaza!! I'm excited either way....
already been googling which nights are free at which museums. not to sound cheap but I'm on an educator's budget after all....

you model it well......
