time is ticking....

ok there are some NSFW clips at Aussieliscious here that you have to check out -- one's a shower scene and the other is some guy out on the rocks. man...

also my bud's radio show OUTCASTAUSTIN had a good broadcast this weekend interviewing the fraternity president and pledge master from the first gay fraternity at UT in Austin, check out the link for the podcast if interested....

well I took a summer job at a funpark for when school is over. I worked there a few summer's ago, but this time it will only be 3 or 4 shifts a week, shouldn't be too bad. I'm having a hard time deciding what to do about next fall, if I really want to work overseas again and pack up my place into storage again, yawn! or just look for a teaching job and stay put, although teaching 6th graders has me unsure if I really want to get back into the classroom with 25-28 different kids five times a day. I was happiest in the classroom all day teaching English to adults while overseas, so I am going to HAVE to consider moving to San Antonio and working on base there teaching English to soldiers from around the world. OR or or or....

had an Excellent weekend with my family, nice big lunch with siblings and neices and nephews and a few of them with spouses. tonight I'm watching HEROES of course, and texting a little bit that male nurse that moved back here from austin (for those following for any length of time maybe'll remember), and I'm getting everything ready to wear tomorrow since I begin my daily morning swims again as of tomorrow morning. that's right it's time to get back into the POOL!!

Hard decision about what to do. I would say if you jump around from position to position be sure to get paid for it, really paid. The way our government is borrowing money right now, tough decisions will be made about the time you want to retire. Politicians of both parties like to push the idea that economic growth will be some kind of debt killing miracle, without realizing that at some point the debt kills economic growth. My point is that you might want to think about working for a place that still offers a pension in addition to 401K type plans. Earning a pension would be a hedge against reduced benefits from social security and Medicare which is coming.

Don’t forget about insurance. As an individual insured person right now you are vulnerable. Ever heard of rescission? Let’s say you have an accident and accrue $100,000 in medical bills. If your not part of a group plan, the insurance company will begin to investigate your application for insurance and past medical records that you have granted them access to (go back and reread your insurance application). They don’t do all of this investigation until a large claim is filed. If they find a discrepancy between the past medical records and the way you answered the questions on the application then it is possible that coverage is rescinded back to the date of your application. Meaning you have no insurance, you might be able to fight their decision in court. Thinking about which employment options allow you to maintain group insurance coverage for many years is not a bad strategy. PBS Frontline had a show talking about the pitfalls of insurance that you might want to watch if you haven’t seen it, see link below.

I now remember why I still think of the group showers in the gym at my old high school.
