boxer post....

now whats a closet gay blog without a boxer post.. .. I'm packing up stuff to send home and I've decided i brought way too many boxers with me. i wasn't aware of the laundry situation before coming I guess. i could have lived with about half of what I brought, this pic shows most of what i had with me here, you can see I'm a Jcrew boxers sort of guy, although i have to say banana republic fits better on the butt. I'm the guy who buys from the $5 or $6 clearance bin when it comes to boxers. i bet there's a reader out there somewhere with the same pair... ha

touch...

we've all heard about the experiment in the 50's (?) where they had orphans and some were held and some weren't and the ones that got no physical touch died... yeah?

well obviously we humans have a need to have physical contact with one another, even as adults there is the affirmation that others are physically aware of our existence... perhaps? anyway, i was thinking today how I am definitely a person willing to touch, by that I mean I'm fine with giving a handshake, or a pat on the back or shoulder. not in a demeaning way, just supportively casual while greeting or saying goodbye etc...And one weird thing about me is I have this thing about consciously touching a really skinny or fat guy. my whole theory behind that is that maybe other people are less likely to touch them because they are skinny or fat( or maybe I've caught myself feeling that way), and so I think doing so sort of gives them a little love just as a person. It may not be true that we are so biased in who we share a general social touch with , but I think i developed the theory somewhere in life when it seemed like when i was getting in shape people were touching me more on the arm or shoulder... maybe I imagined it but that's where I based my theory. Although I also remember being really skinny in highschool and going into college and I'd be self conscious that someone would touch my shoulder and feel my bones sticking out. ha I know I really had a thing about it.

about travelling.....

I could definitely use suggestions for paris and Barcelona, yes i will be looking all over online for ideas, I'm just throwing this out there in case any readers have been to either place and have any recommendations , a nice street, a club, cheap place to stay, site to see, etc...
in Bercelona I plan to just walk around and see everything, I'm pretty good at sitting and just watching people to, ha. in paris its all about the louvre.
my roomie back in okc hsan't been in touch for a long while, the last email I sent on his myspace account he read but did not respond. I have been telling him I'd be home in Nov so I'm looking forward to surprising him by returning in September and showing up, and when he gets home from work, i can say, what's the deal!?!?!
I mailed him a few letters and then even mailed one to his work address but he has yet to email or answer his phone when I call. ahh well just 3 weeks!!! i can't believe it's jsut 3 weeks.
I'm boxing up tons of stuff this weekend to get shipped home and making final rug purchases and souveniers. It's been one great experience overall, although I can't wait to get back to my family and friends and away from the people I've worked with here. I will miss all the air force guys I hang with on base though. sort of like leaving summer camp, ready to get home but miss the familiarity of all the people here.

Air France anyone....

I have decided since I'm returning to the states before taking a vacation, I don't really need ten days in senegal. Does anyone know the possibility or what difficulty or fee is involved in changing an AirFrance rountrip ticket from london to senegal? I've looked online and can't call from kabul...
just asking by chance on the blog....

getting closer...

sorry I'll be going on a lot about how ready I am to leave in my next few posts.... only THREE weeks left. I'm getting really excited about getting back to my house in OKC and then getting things in order before heading back out for some travel time. I found a ticket roundtrip to paris for $844 which is cheaper than london at $1074 so I'm thinking I'll fly into paris first and then train up to London where I'm going to stay with a friend who is in school there this fall.
that'll be my home base while I fly to Senegal and back and then Barcelona. I hope I can make it all work out all right. I wanted to take time off to travel before getting back into the groove of a full time job in the states and no time off to travel. although I may just search out an overseas job again, not real sure at this point, I'm going to wait to see what I find when I get back to okc...
three guys are out in the hall now chatting away, only 2 are hot, they are tech sargents and great guys and all, but man I'm going to hit the lights soon and they better leave the hallway outside my door! ha
I'm actually going to miss a lot of the guys here on base, the ones I've gotten to know from the mess hall or gym or hanging out here in the barracks, and also the afghan guys on the base, the kid that works the desk at the gym, and the guys at the rug market etc.. it will be hard to leave, but I'll be too excited to get back home anyway....
also thanks to all the emails lately on my gmail addy, you may have noticed it on the right. I hope readers feel free to email anytime, and of course all comments welcome...
