if you hadn't already seen in the times....

Cyndi lauper stands up for homosexuals and remarks on the current US president in this article. if interested.....
I listened to a "this american life" broadcast (podcast) a few weeks ago and there was this married gay man speaking about his son approving of his dads getting married, and the kid asked would he be gay, and the dad tells him (whether you agree with this or not) that it's something you're born with and he would know someday depending on which he fell in love with... anyway, Lauper makes a similar comment about her sister being a lesbian and remembers trying to be gay as a kid and just wasn't. ha

robbie and kylie.....

this video came on at the gym today, chest day, and i'm just wondering if anyone else thinks they have NO chemistry at all. great great song, but bad video. maybe it's an american thing but I think there should be more quick movement dancing to keep it visually alive during the chorus, and when they are walking up the 80's gimmick lighted stairs they are not even in sync with each other at all. they appear to be two performers acting like they are in their own video, as if just casting them together in video makes it work. anyway, just my thoughts, I don't even know why i care to be critical on the video. I've seen R Williams videos before though that pretty much rock, and this one not so much.

dan's favorite things.....

I bought this watch at a duty free store on my way back from romania at the istanbul airport. It seemed the perfect thing for living on an air base, because of the green color, and I wear the most often. The bracelet shown, my roomie here made for me. They are quite popular among the US servicemen on base, and a lot of guys learn to make them in their spare time, which is what my roomie had done, and made this one for me. It's from army cording they sell on base, and then he ordered the clips on the internet of course. I love it cause it can go brown or green with what I'm wearing. ha

now what...

olympic bulge....

well I'm not sure if I'll try and go to the lounge to watch the tv for olympic stuff or not this year since I'm overseas. but I will truly miss being at home and watching all the action this summer.
Does anyone else enjoy the opening ceremonies and seeing all the different colors and styles of the different countries' uniforms? come in, you can admit it, gay or not. ha anyway that's my favorite part, the opening ceremony and then i also like the last night where you see athlets from different sports hanging out together etc...
I think I've already mentioned this before but it just ain't the same with out katie and matt lauer getting in the athlete's business and doing all the hokey interviews everyone morning and always asking "how did it FEEL?" ha

rough...

clint black says... killing time......

I had this conversation the other day with this afghan guy that works in the mess hall on base, and he was talking about me not being married, and in his broken English was saying about how difficult it would be to be single because of when his penis is "awake". that cracked me up.
anyway, things on base are pretty good. there may be no time for travel this fall, it all depends on if another year contract goes through or not. I'll be making a little more than this year, and can stay in the states for a few months before returning in january.
If the contract doesn't go through then my boss might request i come back in september with everyone else here. so it sucks about wanting to travel the month of october like I'd planned.
The contract is now in negotiations so I'm just hoping it comes through, and I'm trying not to dream too much about adding on to the house or buying a baby grand for the new addition to the house. ha
I am hoping it will work out though so i can number one, travel like I planned to Senegal and Barcelona, not to mention staying with my college bud in London.
Also it would be very cool to come back for a year because my neice just got married and is living with her mom, my sisiter, so instead the new couple could live in my house at extremely low rent and keep up the place.
So I will know nothing until maybe right before we leave, UGH! such is the life of govt contracts.
I talked to some very hot Luxemburg troops tonight sitting outside on the picnic tables near the mess hall. they were awesome, and it makes me really regret not being to hang out and drink at the bars on base. I guarantee there's some fun to be had out there somehow. dang it all.
had a great arm day at the gym. tomorrow is LEGS day, my least favorite, but you have to do it!
does anyone else ever notice guys at the gym with awful posture or form while working out, there are some guys that rock, sway or cheat, and I silently just go "tsk tsk" in my head. But you all know, gym rule number one, NEVER suggest any advice EVER unless asked at the gym. sigh.
I've been making my way through the "SPACED" episodes on BBC these last few days. Very funny show. It seems like on the british comedy, they are more likly to admit and joke about having a good "wank" than on USA comedy, is it more talked about in the UK or my imagination, doesn't seem like you hear that much in US comedies, but then maybe I'm jsut not wathcing the edgier stuff out there. hmmm
