its a good weekend reallly.....

I listened to an American life podcast this mornign while counting books in the stockroom. it was a repeat but really good, about this guy who had to move to Florida to help his alcoholic mom clean up... anyway one thing struck me from what the mom said, when asked why she'd never called when she hit rock bottom and landing in the emergency room. she said it was like admitting it to yourself when you told someone else. That made me think about not just admitting an addiction, in her case, but also like the fear behind coming out and telling some you are gay, that it's hard to admit it your self. I enjoy catching up with other blogs, and reading about the guys' various stuff that they'd grown up with but never thought of possbily actually being gay, but then looking back.... sure enough they just hadn't been able to admit it, and perhaps are just deciding to or wating to etc..
and then probably some guys see gays stereotyped on tv or somewhere and think I never want to be THAT. of course nowadays there are shows like MTV that are very little bit less stereotypical i guess. also with internet, the closet dude can find guys in the same shoes or who talk the masc talk online etc, different type for everyone thats for sure.
I am coming up with an email response to send my singles group email back home in okc, I keep getting anti-obama forwards so I'm working up a little mini sermon to send back about not assuming every Christian wants to jump on the Republican bandwagon and about the seperation of church and state thank you very much. and about not controlling the actions of others through blindly voting a party based on online one issue (like abortion for ex.) I read an interesting, though liberal slanted a bit I'll say, article in a past new yorker about the republican party finding a new direction becasue the days of polarizing politics based on the extreme religious right ponits are'nt gonig to cut it.
I know one thing, I'm glad I'm out of the country and missing all the media hoopla DEFINITELY.

ready for action......

boring weekend ahead.....

here's my usual weekend....
get up and chat on the computer an extra hour because I go in an hour later on my 'weekend" thursday morning. stay at school and "plan" in my room while the school is cleaned and other teachers do who knows what. come home and hang out until lunch, then eat lunch, then......
that's when I have all time off for whatever. find something to do until gym time, then gym and then dinner.... Friday all day off so its breakfast, wait til lunch, then wait til gym then dinner.....
although i do have some officer buds to hang out with downstairs , and there's always online stuff to shop and read and check out and blog etc....
next weekend i'm definitely going to try and get off base with a student who wants to show me a rug market in kabul....should be safe enough and I hope to get some good deals. I'm watching stuff on ebay now to see if i can make any cash off of selling a few rugs when i get back.
I can't tell ya how cool it is to get a group of buds here on base and the camaradery and all, it's pretty cool and the military life the guys are used to getting along with each other even though we're all tons different.
I've decided to put an add up online about a month before i return to okc and see if I can meet some dudes for more than just hook ups. also I can't wait to get to Austin... ahh yeah...
Did anyone like the Vampire Weekend clip i posted, I'm getting into that album and also the new Weezer album tons...

anyone having fun this summer....

less than 3 months......

things are good, work everything going well so far.
our contractor asked what date I'd prefer going home, so I hope it works out I can go home a month late and get my tax exemption after 330 days...
so I have a lot to plan, for example where I'm going to stay and what to do killing a month overseas. the good news is I have a friend studying in London where i can go and drop off my body armor and then travel light the rest of the time. I have plans to visit a friend in Senegal for a few weeks, and then back to europe and maybe do the europass train thing? I have no idea. but if anyone has any suggestions for Paris or London, I'm all ears at this point.

I went to the other army base a few days ago to get a new CAC card and I was cracking up at the store on base. The magazine racks included "Exercise for Men Only" and "workout", there HAS to be some gay guys on that base and I wonder how they purchase those magazines with a straight face. ha ha. nah but seriously, I remember buying those in college and I honestly thought no big deal, it's because I workout of course. but yeah I was like checking out the package on every picture inside who'd figure.
on this base, all the Belgians have gone and are replaced by a more varied and older group, not paratroopers this time, in a good way that means less crowded at the gym, on the other hand there is a lot to motivate at the gym also.. ahh well.
