the news about the shooting outside the USA embassy in Istanbul was strange to read about because I'd been right across th street at my tour guides office while in Turkey, so it's sort of strange when there is news and you think to yourself, yeah I've been on that road...etc.
same thing , if you'd heard, about the big explosion outside the Indian embassy here. I had to go back there three times, and i have to say they were keeping the street secure. but now its sad, 4 clerks, on consulate, and 2 guards, among many other civilians where they line up in these long lines outside waiting for permission to go to India. Also looks like I won't be going back to India as planned in August since I won't be able to get a visa in time to make the trip.
Tajikistan anyone?

So many places, so little time (and money).
Roll the dice, Dan, and go wherever The Fates take you.
I've been thinking about and praying for you this week after hearing about all of the bombings in Kabul. Glad to see you posting!
That's what you get if go you after someone's oil and opium. Google it.
Stay safe!
Glad you're safe and sound man. Good luck on future travels!
Dan thanks for choosing to work there. It's great. I've been in South America during turbulent times and upheaval, and it is definitely different from North America. Peace and safety to you!
