OU couldn't hold back WV!

yup, ou lost the fiesta bowl this year. but hey they got there right? I still love OU and i am ready for next years team! I have to say I watched the delayed broadcast game here last night and it was so sad... they commented at the end about Stoops great coaching but...man, I hated watching it. and I flipped channels some but in the end... just kept watching... UGHHH!
but I'm still Boomer Sooner all the way! ha

Sorry, I loved the game because I was pulling for West Virginia, but I was not against OU if that makes sense.

The loss was not so much because OU called bad plays, but it was because the WV 3-3-5 defense is so talented and could pressure Bradford. OU has never faced a 3-3-5 defense like WV, and watching old films will not prepare you for it either. Basically a 3-3-5 defense is the answer to a spread offense, and if executed properly this defense shuts off short passes, slants, and screens. It really only allows those long bomb passes, problem is that Bradford was pressured and didn’t have time to complete a long pass on most attempts. So, don’t think WV victory was an accident. If WV played OU again today, they would likely win because they execute the 3-3-5 defense so well. Recall that OU tried to break up this defense by running the ball, but the WV defense held and forced OU to throw long before they were ready.

Next year expect to see more 3-3-5 defense from OU competitors, if their defenders are fast this defense is nearly impossible to stop. That is why the WV defenders could dominate OU’s offensive line even though they weighed 40 lbs less per player, simply superior speed. Ironically, this 3-3-5 defense is fairly rare in college and more common in high school.

Bradford will need to make huge improvements in how he deals with pressure in order to succeed against this style of defense.
