A few years ago I was passing through a college town just outside Montreal. I was standing in line at a bus station, trying to read the schedule, which was printed in French. (Granted, I might not have been able to read it if it had been printed in English!) Near me in line was a very cute young English-looking (definitely not French-looking) boi. I asked if he could help me and he replied "Sorry but I don't speak English." And I thought 'Yes, and you don't speak it perfectly.'

That was my only bad experience in Canada.
